The list of awards are not in the order they were presented in.
Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy
Gael Garcia Bernal
I was rooting for Aziz Ansari or Rob Lowe personally, Parks and Recreation being my favorite show, but I've never seen Mozart in the Jungle and based on all the awards it's receiving it seems like a pretty wonderful show.
Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama
Taraji P. Henson
I was rooting for Viola Davis and How to Get Away With Murder because I love Viola Davis and Shonda Rhimes. However, Henson passed out cookies to people as she was walking up to the stage (because her character's name in Empire is Cookie) and she had a great acceptance speech so I'm not mad about it.
Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
The Martian
WHAT IN GODS NAME THIS MOVIE ISN'T A COMEDY. This movie beat Joy and The Big Short and just how. I don't even have words to describe how ridiculous this is. The Big Short should have won 100%. Trainwreck and The Martian should not have even been in this category. This movie was a fine drama but not comedy. Because of this genre snafu The Big Short, an incredibly edited, written, and captured movie, was robbed of its rightful recognition.
Best TV Series, Drama
Mr. Robot
I understand this is the newest up and coming TV show and it's surprisingly good but how in the hell did it beat Game of Thrones? Every damn episode of Game of Thrones is like a mini-movie. That show is an incredible achievement for television and Mr. Nobody has got nothing on it.
Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
Matt Damon
This movie is not a comedy and it is an abomination that he beat out Christian Bale and Steve Carrell from The Big Short which was an amazing movie--much funnier than The Martian by the way. I've seen both these movies and 1. The Big Short is just a better movie in general and 2. The Martian is in no way a comedy. They all did a great job acting but Matt Damon basically did what he always does--I wasn't amazed by his performance. Christian Bale? I was amazed by his performance.
Best Director – Motion Picture
Alejandro González Iñárritu
Alejandro rightfully won this award. The Revenant is a remarkable cinematic feat. It was all shot out in the elements with only 90 minutes to shoot each day. There was very little CGI and what was CGI was basically all the animals and when Leo DeCap falls off a cliff. There was not one weak performance throughout the whole movie and I was sure Will Poulter would have been the performance to pull down all other performances (he's known for his generic "bad guy" roles in YA movies) but he was just as great as the rest of the supporting cast. Only a strong director can elicit amazing performances out of every single cast member.
Best Actor in a TV Series, Drama
Jon Hamm
I'm really surprised he beat Mr. Robot's Rami Malek and Narcos' Wagner Moura but I am so happy that he did. I loved Mad Men and I thought Jon Hamm did an amazing job and was so compelling playing this complex and ultimately terrible character.
Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture
Kate Winslet
I didn't see this Steve Jobs movie because I refused to see any of the Steve Jobs movies--I wasn't interested in the subject and it has been done at least three times. I did see The Hateful Eight and Trumbo and out of those two I would have chosen Jennifer Jason Leigh from The Hateful Eight to win. I can't imagine any of the nominees being better than Leigh was in The Hateful Eight, but who knows, maybe I missed out on a performance of a lifetime from Kate Winslet; I do know however that Jennifer Jason Leigh kicked major ass in The Hateful Eight.
Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture
Sylvester Stallone
As my mother put it when she heard them announce his name "Oh my God that was a gift" which pretty much sums up how I feel about that. I mean he beat Paul Dano and Idris Elba for God sake.
Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama
Leonardo DeCaprio
This man kicked all the ass there was to kick in The Revenant he deserved it 10 times over. He did beat Bryan Cranston and Eddie Redmayne and I genuinely wanted them to win something but Leonardo DeCaprio seriously deserved this award and he mentioned standing up for Natives and Native's rights in his speech so more power to him.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
Jennifer Lawrence
I wanted Maggie Smith to win. Everyone basically knew that Jennifer Lawrence was going to win. I'm glad that Trainwreck didn't win because holy shit that movie compared to Joy was nothing. I don't even know why Trainwreck was in the running--probably because there was no one else to nominate but hey they should have pulled an actress from The Martian because apparently it's a comedy and God knows the weakest performance in that movie was eons better than the best performance in Trainwreck.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama
Brie Larson
I wanted Alicia Vikander to win because she was amazing in The Danish Girl and her performance was so powerful. However, what I have seen of Room is that it's a crazy dramatic movie and Brie Larson looks like she kills it so good for her.
Best Motion Picture, Drama
The Revenant
I couldn't be more happy with this decision. Obviously this was the only choice. In overall scope and scale this movie blows every other movie out of the water.
Best Actor in a Limited-Series or TV Movie
Oscar Isaac
I haven't seen any of these shows. I heard Idris Elba on Luther is amazing, but I'm sure Oscar Isaac is equally as amazing.
Best Original Score – Motion Picture
Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone from The Hateful Eight won and I couldn't be more happy. Loved it. Perfect. I heard something along the lines that Morricone did all the old spaghetti western scores and The Hateful Eight was his first western score in 40 years. The music that accompanied some of the scenes created the tone and instructed you for how you should feel and it was truly amazing.
Best Foreign Language Film
Son of Saul
This movie was the only movie in this category I had ever heard of and what I heard of it was that it was stunning and brilliant. Also it's Hungarian which has apparently never won before says Helen Mirren.
Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited-Series or TV Movie
Maura Tierney
I don't really watch TV so the only nomination I knew about was Uzo Aduba from Orange is the New Black. Aduba is really good in Orange is the New Black but certainly not unbeatable so it's not unbelievable that she lost.
Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy
Mozart in the Jungle
I really thought Transparent would win. I don't know anything about Mozart in the Jungle, I've never heard of it before now and I'm surprised it beat Transparent, Orange is the New Black, Silicon Valley and Veep.
Best Animated Feature Film
Inside Out
Now I loved Inside Out, and it did indeed make me cry, and I did love Amy Pohler in it very very much, but I can't say it should have beat Anomalisa. Anomalisa was able to combine the stop motion form of animation with a very mature plot line. I think Anomalisa was a much more of a cinematic triumph.
Best Actress in a Limited-Series or TV Movie
Lady Gaga
I am so happy I got to hear Lady Gaga win an award for best actress. That made my night. I think it's probably a shame she beat Queen Latifah and Kirsten Dunst--I don't really consider America Horror Story that great of a show and I would say its probably overrated. Regardless she seemed truly grateful and honored by the award and I'm happy for her.
Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited-Series or TV Movie
Christian Slater
As much as I love The Good Wife I have heard so many great things about Mr. Robot and as the new upcoming TV series I thought it was pretty obvious Christian Slater was going to win.
Best Original Song – Motion Picture
"Writings On the Wall" Spectre
I was just hoping Fifty Shades of Grey's "Love Me Like You Do" didn't win. I want nothing about Fifty Shades of Grey to be honored in any way. I also like this song so I'm happy about it.
Best TV Movie or Limited-Series
Wolf Hall
I haven't seen any of these shows but I was really looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga get an award for a TV show.
Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy
Rachel Bloom
I'm disappointed Julia Louis-Dreyfus didn't win but I'm really glad Scream Queens didn't win because I think that is an incredibly stupid show.
Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
Aaron Sorkin
I am very unhappy about this; how the hell did Steve Jobs beat The Hateful Eight or even The Big Short. How did that happen? The actors in The Big Short had to memorize monologues with these crazy financial terms and even with that the movie was able to make bonds and the housing market make sense to the lay-person. The Hateful Eight as always was written beautifully; taken in chapters the story of all these terrible people if artfully laid out in an incredibly original and entertaining way.The Hateful Eight should have won hands down.
I'm really disappointed The Big Short missed out on every award it was nominated for. That movie was so amazing and it needs to be recognized for how amazing it was. I'm really pissed The Martian was in the comedy category and I think Ricky Gervais agrees with me based on the comments he was making when talking about it. Christ, when they were playing the trailer clippy things of all the movies nominated for best comedy film The Martian was in no way presented as a comedy; it seemed a lot like the tone of Interstellar which I think speaks a lot to the categorization. I'm mostly glad about all the recognition The Revenant got because it was such a remarkable achievement. The Danish Girl and the actors in the Danish Girl (Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander) were all-over incredibly moving and it's upsetting that it wasn't given more recognition. I was more disappointed than satisfied with how the awards were given out. A lot of really amazing movies got jipped and that's a big let down. Hopefully at future award shows some of the movies that were glossed over here will be acknowledged.
Mr. Robot
